This webinar is the second session in the virtual series Enhancing Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring and Reporting under KMGBF Target 2 through the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM) Tool. It is jointly convened by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD), and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB). Held in February 2026, the session brought together representatives from government ministries, Technical and Scientific Cooperation Support Centres, academic institutions, and private organizations to strengthen capacities for ecosystem restoration reporting under the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. The session introduced the FERM registry as the official reporting tool for KMGBF Target 2 and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, highlighting its ability to document restoration initiatives with spatial and site‑level indicators. Participants were guided through the application programming interface (API) based workflow using JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) data formats and a four‑step process covering authentication, data submission, system validation, and response handling, demonstrating how programmatic submissions can improve efficiency and reduce manual errors. Participants were encouraged to access the available API documentation, training materials, and technical support mechanisms to strengthen national restoration data integration. Session Outline * Introduction to the Webinar (0:01–1:46) Ali Caravani (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) * Introduction to the FERM Registry (2:03–9:14) Gregory Obiang (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) * Technical Walkthrough: Using the FERM API (10:12–34:25) Stefano Giaccio (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) * Closing Remarks from ACB (54:21–56:20) Christian Elloran (ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity) * Closing Remarks and Support Resources from RCMRD (56:36–1:02:52) Christopher Amudavi (Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development) |
